How do I work out the right necklace length?
Already have a favourite length but want a new look from our range? Open your necklace, lay it out in a straight line and measure it with a ruler or folding rule.
Fancy something completely new and no idea whether a choker suits you or how a length from 60 cm looks? No problem: grab a piece of string or – better still – a wide, colourful gift ribbon. The ribbon is striking and contrasts enough to show up against any clothing and give you a real sense of the length. Lay it around your neck at the length you want and then measure it. By the way: our necklaces are often adjustable and cover several length ranges.
Jewellery makers distinguish necklace lengths between 30 cm and 90 cm – always measured without a pendant. The most common length is between 40 cm and 50 cm. This “standard” has established itself as the perfect middle ground between elegance, statement and timelessness, and it flatters every silhouette. Delicate necklaces with a pendant work best in this range.
Things get properly on-trend away from the norm: chokers between 30 and 40 cm and extra-long statement necklaces between 70 and 90 cm are equally in demand right now. If you would rather not settle on one length, simply take them all – layering turns your neckline into a canvas for your favourite pieces, short to long.
The right length does more than show off your jewellery. It also rounds off different outfits – and flatters your silhouette along the way.
